We were
sitting under a big tree unpacking the stuff at school; very cosy
and the sun was shining. When looking at the logboeken (books with
the pictures) we found that all people did something with the
nature/particular things of their country. (...) We had the idea to
do something which is typical for Amersfoort; a forest scenery. (...)
We did three things, and made a collection of four themes:
1. The forest: we made a tipi shape of bamboo (which stands for nature
and freedom) and we hanged it in the trees. We used 'strange birds'
(a project of the 1st classes at school) to fill the forest scenery
and to emphasize the flying building in the air
2. The sand; the students wanted to do something else with the tipi-shape;
so they dragged it to the sand. Not the best idea; but it was worth
trying. At that time the press (unfortunately) arrived...
3. The golden frame; Amersfoort is building/developing a new cultural
centre named 'het eemcentrum'. They put a golden frame ( appr. 6 meter
by 4 meter) at the place where they want to built the centre with
the text on the frame: 'amersfoort becomes more beautiful'. We wanted
to make a new string-skyline (of buildings), over the (flat) skyline
you see when you look through the frame. The 'fun' part was it rained
all day; how typicalcan it get for Holland/Amersfoort..
4. Shadows/reflection (body and building); while busy with the nets/strings
the sun was shining and reflected shadows on the wall of our body
and 'building'.
All four themes have a totally different atmotsphere. While busy with
the nets new ideas kept coming. So it is a shame we couldn't keep
the nets; now we have to make new ones ourselves to continue our creative
mindsets ;) |
